Employee satisfaction and retention have always been important issues for organizations.Satisfied employees tend to be more productive, creative and committed to their employers, recent studies have shown. Businesses have long recognized the importance of cultivating proud, motivated and loyal employees. In fact, organizations that still operate with the mentality that workers should do their jobs and keep their mouths shut are likely to flounder. These days, the old style of management has largely disappeared - but so has the trust that once existed between employer and employee. Job seekers no longer expect to find lifetime positions within one company. Layoffs and cutbacks in a difficult economic environment have generated fear and suspicion among employees. Companies recognize that their long-term viability depends on finding, retaining and motivating good employees. Danai Liswadiratanakul Motivation, Expectation, And satisfaction Among Engineering Faculty

One of the purpose of this study was to determine the degree to which faculty of engineering in Thailand were satisfied with and motivated and expected to engage in teaching, research, scholarship, and service. The other was to determine the relationship between the motivation, expectation, and satisfaction variables; and the faculty marital status, gender, years of experience, rank, and educational background. The participants were all full-time faculty members in faculties of engineering in eight selected private universities in Thailand. The means and standard deviations for each of the motivation, expectation, and satisfaction items were calculated. For the four motivation and expectation concerning teaching items, the mean was lowest for "pressure from colleagues to teach in a particular way" and highest for "had to change teaching method

This book investigates the extent to which caregivers at the SOS Children's Village and Osu Children's Home are satisfied with their jobs.The theory guiding this study is Herzberg's two factor theory which proposes that the factors that cause satisfaction are distinctly different from factors that cause dissatisfaction hence the hygiene and motivation factors.Through surveys and interaction with the caregivers at the two institutional homes,it was established that to a large extent caregivers are not satisfied with their jobs.The study further went on to identify factors at the institutions that caused job satisfaction and job dissatisfaction.General working conditions and work relationships were identified as factors leading to job satisfaction where as low level of motivations were associated pay and promotion potential,opportunity to use kill and talent and work activities.This study will guide child care institutions on ways of controlling and preventing feelings of dissatisfaction as well as ways of motivating their staff(caregivers)to deliver the best care services.

A study conducted to understand quality of care and patient satisfaction from primary healthcare in Benghazi city. Quality has been defined in this study as doing right things right in a right manner at the right time with a right mix of manpower, equipments, space and management systems and subsystems. Patient satisfaction, the result of quality of care is the comfort level of beneficiaries in terms of care and concern shown by the facility. Beneficiaries are highly satisfied with the quality of care received. Two major significant variables associated with satisfaction are age of patient and selection of facilities. Those in younger age are less satisfied than others. People seek facilities at different locations and reach better satisfaction levels. This study concludes that primary health care facilities are working well effectively. But the efficiency of the system might be of attention in the coming years. This might be made through manpower mix, skill upgradation, human resource development activities and so on. Facilities might also focus on patient satisfaction. Scientific Study from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Personnel and Organisation, , language: English, abstract: This study aimed at evaluating the impact of worker's participation in the decision-making process on job satisfaction, industrial harmony, and productivity in organizations, with particular reference to the Universal Basic Education Board in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Built around the survey design, two hundred and eighty-four (284) respondents were reached through a multi-stage sampling method and questionnaire was used as the instrument for collecting primary data, while relying on the library for secondary data. Data from the field was subjected to description by simple percentages, but drawing of inference was done through the use of the chi-square statistical test. Pivoted by the Achievement-Power-Affiliation motivation theory of David Mcclelland, the study acknowledges the difficulty in measuring productivity in this context. Data that emerge reveal that there is a direct relationship between the degree of workers' participation in the various organizational decision making processes and job satisfaction, industrial harmony, and productivity. The study, thus, concludes that if workers actively participate in the decision making processes of organization, certainly job satisfaction would breed industrial harmony, which ultimately would ensure higher productivity. Both primary and secondary data will be used while looking at the various elements of the two types of motivation, and the differing effects they have on employees. Furthermore, the positive and negative sides of the two types of motivation will be discussed in the literature review.In order to gather primary data, sets of questions have been outlined and answers have been collected from the employees at the firm. The questions revolve around different elements of motivation, and hence allow that the effectiveness of both the methods is thoroughly examined. More specifically, it investigates the correlation among the level of foreign anxiety, the level of motivation and academic achievement of EFL students and gender differences. To this end, the study adopted the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) and the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS). The participants were 100 students (47 females and 53 males). The data was analyzed by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results indicated that participants experienced a moderate level of foreign language anxiety and motivation. Besides, the findings showed a negative significant correlation between two of foreign language anxiety variables (communication apprehension and test anxiety) and academic achievement while intrinsic motivation was positively and significantly correlated with academic achievement. Furthermore, the results revealed that all three components of FLCAS were correlated with intrinsic motivation to know. Gazi Hossain Quality of Working Life, Job Satisfaction and Behavior Workers

Quality of Working Life (QWL) refers to a relationship between workers and working environment. Job satisfaction is a measure of QWL. Present study was undertaken with a view to measuring overall QWL and job satisfaction of shift workers of textile mills in Bangladesh. A sample of 60 shift workers were drawn from two textile mills. Major findings based on data are: Significant number of respondents had higher perception of QWL. There was no significant influence of personal factors on QWL, on performance or on job satisfaction. Overall QWL was positively correlated with workers' performance and job satisfaction, and negatively correlated with absenteeism and accidents. Job satisfaction was positively correlated with performance. There was no joint effect of shift system and type of industry on perception of QWL. There was no joint effect of shift system and type of industry on job satisfaction. Perception of QWL and job satisfaction were significantly higher among private sector workers than those of public sector workers. Factorial structure models assume that job satisfaction is based on multiple underlying (latent) factors that are not directly measurable. An alternative concept assumes that satisfaction with different job facets adds up to overall job satisfaction. As job satisfaction is dependent on culture, this study examined how the importance of job facets varies across cultural areas and countries within a global organization. An attempt was made to estimate the influence of an overarching company corporate culture on job satisfaction in different national cultures.The Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) was used in eight countries in Europe, East Asia, Latin America, and North America. Five MSQ-items were conceptually attributed to the overarching corporate culture of Roche, a global pharmaceutical company. Exploratory factor analysis was used to examine latent factors. Also, stepwise regression analysis was performed to identify the predictors of job satisfaction based on statistical significance.The average levels of job satisfaction were high.
